Plaistow Homestead

Plaistow, with its roots in the pastoral development of the 1840's, occupies a unique position in heritage tourism.

The 1850's homestead surrounded by three acres of gardens is also the focus for an operating farm with cattle and angora goats.

Present owners, Peter and Lilian Skilbeck, offer guided tours of the house and gardens and willingly share their knowledge of the history and development of the property over its 158 years.

The house and sheds contain an extensive collection of antiques and curios, and exude feelings of warmth and happiness which never fails to evoke nostalgia and a relationship to bygone era.

Plaistow also offers hosted accommodation within the homestead giving visitors an opportunity to experience the ambience of this special house, its gardens and farming life.

Plaistow is ideally located within a halfhour's drive of Maldon, Castlemaine, Daylesford, Creswick, Clunes and Maryborough, and within three-quarters of an hour to Bendigo and Ballarat.
